Former Connecticut Solicitor General Joshua Perry Joins Perry Law as Partner

Perry Law is thrilled to announce that former Connecticut Solicitor General Joshua Perry has joined the firm today as a Partner. Josh’s practice will center on appellate litigation and defending clients in federal and state enforcement actions. These practice areas leverage the unique insights Josh gained from his tenure at the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General and his decades of experience as a civil rights attorney.

“I’m ecstatic that my brother Josh has decided to join Perry Law. As a remarkable litigator and gifted writer, he will be a tremendous asset to our growing team,” said E. Danya Perry.

Josh was named Solicitor General in 2022, after three years serving as Special Counsel for Civil Rights to Connecticut Attorney General William Tong. As Connecticut’s Solicitor General, he was responsible for overseeing all the office’s appellate litigation and for drafting the Attorney General’s formal opinions. Among other significant cases, Josh recently defended Connecticut’s assault weapons restrictions in an oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In another recent case, he persuaded the U.S. Supreme Court to deny certiorari in a challenge to Connecticut’s school vaccination policies.

“I’m excited to join Perry Law’s innovative litigation team,” said Josh. “I look forward to contributing to the firm’s reputation for top-tier client service in high-stakes matters.”

Before joining the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office, Josh was a longtime civil rights litigator. He has been Deputy Director of legal aid agency Connecticut Legal Services; Executive Director of the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights; and General Counsel to the Orleans Public Defenders. His writing includes the novel Seraphim (Melville House 2024); legal scholarship in the Harvard Law Review and Michigan Law Review; and legal analysis for popular outlets including Slate.com, the Washington Post, and CNN. Josh graduated Harvard College and New York University School of Law, where he was named to the Order of the Coif and served on the Law Review.

Josh joining the firm marks an exciting new chapter for Perry Law, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to providing innovative legal strategies to clients facing complex disputes and investigations.
